It's quite possible there's no scent more intoxicating than the heady scent of wisteria in April. For the most convincing evidence, make your way to the wisteria tunnel at the Giardino Bardini (plan for the middle two weeks of the month). If you want the experience all to yourself, arrive first thing on a weekday. The scent is one thing; the lush color is another. An extravagant color for a shoe, but also rather splendid.
